Self-propelling capsule endoscopy
According to the WHO, cancer is the second leading cause of death globally. Looking at the survival rate of cancer, we could save 1.6 million people annually just by finding their cancer earlier. However the current endoscopy is too hard for people to undergo regularly, because it is painful, time consuming and examines only one organ. To clear this hurdle, we developed self-propelled capsule endoscopy.
The system is composed of disposable MiniMermaid® whose fin is attached to the existing capsule endoscope and magnetic field generating controller. The movement is controlled easily by a doctor through the entire digestive tract.
Therefore MiniMermaid can create a faster, cheaper and more comfortable gastrointestinal (GI) tract exam for all human beings.
